Most metals edge up as markets await euro summit

Ahead of the summit that will attempt to make headway in the eurozone crisis yesterday, there were only minor upwards price changes for most metals on the LME.

Three-month copper increased to $7,835 (£5,018) yesterday from Tuesday’s $7,792 (£4,984).

Aluminium was up a touch on Wednesday to $2,108 (£1,350) compared to $2,104 (£1,346) the day before. Alloy was unchanged on $1,975 but increased by £2 to £1,265.

Lead increased to $2,118 (£1,357) on Wednesday from $2,083 (£1,332) a day earlier. Nickel moved up a touch to $18,155 (£11,628) from $18,130 (£11,596) a day earlier.

Tin was up to $20,425 (£13,082) yesterday compared to Tuesday’s $19,945 (£12,757). Zinc increased to $2,024 (£1,296) from $2,010 (£1,286).

Steel edged up to $560 (£359) from $555 (£355).
