Three men and a woman have appeared in court over allegations that they committed a fraud while working at Welsh glass recycler Nationwide Recycling.

Directors Andrew Thomas of Bonymaen and Paul Thomas of Morriston and company staff Beverley Bradford and Terrence Ainge of Bonymaen are accused of conspiring to make a false representation “that loads of glass packaging waste had been received by Nationwide recycling” for reprocessing, when it had not.

They are accused of attempting to profit for themselves or another person from this between January 2009 and September 2010.

Bradford and Ainge also face four allegations that they permitted the deposition of waste without an environmental permit.

Directors Paul and Andrew Thomas are accused of jointly concealing criminal property, which is a cash payment of almost £300,000 that came from payments from metals companies that Nationwide Recycling “dishonestly obtained”.

Both also face allegations over allowing the deposition of waste without an environmental permit.

All will now appear at Swansea Crown Court on 21 October where pleas will also be entered.
