Northern Irish compliance scheme NIpak has launched new software for retailers that will make it easier for them to make their annual return to the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).

Although aimed primarily at retailers in Northern Ireland, the CheckOut software can be easily modified for the rest of the UK.

The software takes readily available sales information and converts this into a detailed packaging datasheet, saving long hours of information collation and checking.

NIpak managing director Simon Stringer: “Like so many other companies, our members have been finding trading conditions really tough during the current recession.

“CheckOut minimises the amount of time that a retailer needs to spend on a task that has to be done, but can distract from core business activities. It is our response to our members’ need to find a way to comply with the Packaging Regulations easily and cost-effectively.”

NIpak believes that CheckOut is the best system on the market, offering the possibility of providing a tailored solution which calculates an exact tonnage for a range of retailer models including supermarkets, convenience stores and off-licenses, ensuring that only the minimum number of packaging recovery notes (PRNs) need to be purchased to meet obligations.
