Spanish oil firm Repsol is to work with Spanish recycler Acteco to recycle high quality polyolefins for use in high value applications.

Acteco will recycle the polyolefins at its plant in Alicante. The recycled product from this plant will be included in Repsol’s Reciclex range, which is designed for uses where there are high technical requirements.

Both firms will work towards increasing the capacity of Acteco’s Alicante plant to recycle these high quality polyolefins.

Repsol aims to become a net zero emissions company by 2050 and to recycle the equivalent of 20% of its polyolefin production by 2030.

Repsol Chemicals executive director José Luis Bernal said: “This is a strategic alliance that allows us to collaborate in boosting the circular economy and solutions for decarbonisation, to reach our commitments regarding recycling plastics and offer our customers a complete range of high quality circular polyolefins that will allow them to increase the amount of recycled materials in their products.”

Acteco managing director Jorge Ramis added: “Thanks to this agreement we will provide a solution for the large number of plastic products that currently cannot be recycled, thus offering circular models to sectors where plastic is an essential material for the development of the products.”
