Only ABS and copper imports into China up

Imports of ABS and scrap copper into China were the only materials to increase in July compared to June.

According to Chinese Customs Statistics, 158,233 tonnes of ABS were imported into China in July compared to 138,831 tonnes in June. This is up 5.6 per cent compared to July last year.

Slices or chips of PET were down to 14,864 tonnes from 17,639 in June. Year on year imports in July have fallen 6.8 per cent.

Scrap copper was up 10,000 tonnes to 430,000 in July compared to 420,000 tonnes in June. Compared to July 2010, imports of scrap copper into China are up a huge 35.9 per cent.

Scrap aluminium was down to 220,000 tonnes in July from 240,000 tonnes in June. Year on year, imports of the material in July were up 2.8 per cent.

Paper and paperboard imports were stable at 300,000 tonnes in both June and July. Imports are up 11.9 per cent compared to June 2010 however.
