Period of calm for metals, although most edge down

Most metals on the LME moved downwards yesterday, but the markets are not as volatile as they have been.

Copper dropped a touch to $7,300 (£4,709) yesterday compared to Friday’s $7,358 (£4,732).

Aluminium fell quite heavily t0 $1,961 (£1,265) on Monday from Friday’s $2,009 (£1,292). Alloy was down to $1,895 (£1,223) from Friday’s $1,905 (£1,225).

Lead moved lower yesterday to $1,953 (£1,260) from $1,999 (£1,285) on Friday. Nickel was the only metal to increase in price moving up to $18,380 (£11,857) on Monday from Friday’s $18,100 (£11,639).

Tin was down to $18,675 (£12,048) from $18,800 (£12,089) while zinc dropped to $1,855 (£1,197) from $1,872 (£1,203).

Steel was down to $540 (£348) from $565 (£363).
