Former general secretary of The Recycling Association Peter Seggie has joined Smurfit Kappa as external affairs manager.
This is a newly created role, and he will work closely with the company’s external stakeholders and engage in a wide range of issues affecting the company’s business.
As part of a wider role within the Smurfit Kappa Group, his remit will also extend to external affairs management in Europe and will include working with the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI).
He was previously recovered paper sector manager for seven years at the Confederation of Paper Industries, before becoming general secretary of The Recycling Association.
Smurfit Kappa Recycling managing director Simon Weston said: “We are delighted that Peter has chosen to join us. There are many issues bearing down on the recovered fibre market and his knowledge and experience is critical to our intention to provide thought leadership to the industry.”
