Packaging manufacturer Berry Global Group has revealed that it will use chemically recycled plastic in Philadelphia cream cheese packaging produced by Mondelēz International.
Berry announced its partnership with chemical recycling company SABIC earlier this year and will now use the technology to produce a virgin-like feedstock.
Its consumer packaging international division president Jean-Marc Galvez said: “We are pleased to partner with Mondelēz International in providing packaging made from this advanced recycling technology.
“By recovering and diverting plastic that would have otherwise been sent to landfill or incineration, we are working towards our common goal of promoting a circular economy.”
Berry has invested in both chemical and mechanical recycling and has committed to 100% of its fast-moving consumer goods packaging being reusable, recyclable or compostable by the year 2025.
