Price of plastic paid by China up so far over the year

The price of plastics imported into China has increased by as much as 38 per cent this year.

China Scrap Plastics News reports that the average price of scrap PET paid by Chinese buyers has been $940 (£604) in the period January to October 2011. This is an increase of 38 per cent compared to the same period in 2010.

Between January and October this year, the average price paid for scrap PE was $673 (£433), which was up 6 per cent on 2010. In the same period, the average price that Chinese buyers bought secondary PS for was $864 (£555) – an increase of 27 per cent.

PVC was up 26 per cent to $638 (£410) and other secondary plastics were up 9 per cent to $697 (£448).
