Plastic bottle:

UK plastic bottles producer Princes has said that it is increasing its recycled content to more than 50% in the next few months.

The company, which makes 7% of the plastic bottles used in the UK, has started the process to meet this target and said that it will finish by September.

Princes corporate relations director David McDiarmid said: “We want to increase the recycled content of all the plastic we use and have been working for some time to implement 51% rPET [recycled plastic].”

He added that it is a vital step for not only the company, but for the wider food and drink industry, as it will reach millions of households through its supply of brands.

The company also wants to commit to 100% recycled plastic in all of its products as soon as it can, the director said.
