A tool has been launched by Plastic Recyclers Europe (PRE) that will help to determine whether plastic can be recycled.
RecyClass enables packaging designers to check how easily their product can be recycled and offers tips on how to improve the design to make its recycling more efficient.
It also offers a certification scheme to enable the RecyClass label to be used on the product.
The tool was launched at the InterPack Trade Fair in Dusseldorf.
PRE board member Paolo Glerean said: “RecyClass is based on the existing recycling guidelines, the functioning of today’s recycling markets and the experience of the plastics recyclers.
“The users of the tool can instinctively understand how to improve the recyclability of their packaging.”
