Exports of PE-based polymers increased to 28,690 tonnes in August compared to 24,288 tonnes in July, according to the latest HMRC data.
This made it the best month since March when 30,361 tonnes of material left the UK.
Turkey continued to be the prime destination with 12,152 tonnes up from 9,523 tonnes in July.
As a whole, the EU imported 8,834 tonnes just 30 tonnes more than July. Poland led the way with 3,255 tonnes down from 3,426 tonnes a month earlier. The Netherlands increased to 1,513 tonnes (July: 1,283 tonnes), followed by Spain (July: 1,745 tonnes) and Germany’s 1,031 tonnes (July: 705 tonnes).
Malaysia increased its imports of UK material to 5,241 tonnes in August from 4,399 tonnes the preceding month.
Vietnam was the only other significant destination with 1,036 tonnes up from just 125 tonnes in July.
