Please note this report just focuses on the waste polymers of ethylene commodity code (391510), as exports of other plastics are relatively small in volume
Exports of PE-based plastics fell to a really low level in December. Just 19,750 tonnes was exported compared to 25,701 tonnes in November.
Most material went to the EU with it taking 9,480 tonnes as a whole up from 6,297 tonnes in November.
Poland was the main buyer with 2,992 tonnes up from just 118 tonnes in November.
Netherlands was next with 2,116 tonnes increasing from 1,883 tonnes in November, although of course much of this could end up elsewhere.
A surprising 1,593 tonnes went into Ireland up from 495 tonnes in November.
Exports to Germany fell to 1,083 tonnes from 1,627 tonnes the month before.
Turkey was the best of the non-EU countries with 6,940 tonnes in December, although this was a month-on-month fall from 7,847 tonnes.
Hong Kong dropped too reaching 2,439 tonnes compared to November’s 4,373 tonnes.
Malaysia also eased back purchases to 2,416 tonnes from 2,928 tonnes in November.
