Please note this report just focuses on the waste polymers of ethylene commodity code (391510), as exports of other plastics are relatively small in  volume
Exports of UK scrap PE-based polymers were down slightly in December compared to November 2021.
December saw 20,938 tonnes exported, which was only a little lower than November’s 21,613 tonnes.
Most of this went to the EU with 14,606 tonnes exported there, down from November’s 15,200 tonnes.
The Netherlands was the main destination within the EU with 4,977 tonnes, lower than 5,276 tonnes in November.
Spain was next with 1,952 tonnes, an increase on 1,712 tonnes seen the month before.
Italy wasn’t far behind with 1,850 tonnes – a big jump compared to 537 tonnes in November.
Belgium took 1,208 tonnes of UK material in December, lower than 1,436 tonnes in the preceding month.
Germany imported exactly the same 1,208 tonnes, but this was a larger fall than November’s 1,998 tonnes.
France also fell to 1,117 tonnes, after receiving 1,411 tonnes in November.
Outside of the EU, only Turkey imported a significant amount receiving 5,010 tonnes in December from 3,579 tonnes in November. This was the best month since May and is now three months in a row that Turkey has imported more than 1,000 tonnes per month.
