Please note this report just focuses on the waste polymers of ethylene commodity code (391510), as exports of other plastics are relatively small in  volume

Exports of this plastics grade were stronger in February from January, the latest data from HRMC shows.

After a poor January when just 17,117 tonnes was exported, there was a recovery up to 21,161 tonnes in February.

The EU remained the biggest buyer taking 14,626 tonnes, up from 13,599 tonnes in January.

Of this, 5,880 tonnes went to the Netherlands in February, up from 4,919 tonnes the month before. Italy fell to 2,322 tonnes, from 2,836 tonnes in January. Germany bought more material though in February increasing to 1,718 tonnes from 1,076. Belgium was up to 1,417 tonnes from 1,328 tonnes in January.

Outside of the EU, Turkey bought 3,924 tonnes in February, compared to January’s 2,477 tonnes.

Singapore also jumped to 1,227 tonnes from 276 tonnes in January.
