Please note this report just focuses on the waste polymers of ethylene commodity code (391510), as exports of other plastics are relatively small in  volume
July was marginally better than June for PE-based plastics with a total of 19,576 tonnes leaving the UK, compared to 16,384 tonnes in June.
However, it is very much the case that the EU was the UK’s only market of significance in July taking 18,132 tonnes of this total. This was an increase from 15,540 tonnes in June.
The Netherlands was the main destination with 5,643 tonnes, virtually identical to June’s 5,633 tonnes.
Spain was next, more than doubling imports to 4,385 tonnes from 1,972 tonnes in June.
Germany increased its imports a little in July to 1,406 tonnes, compared to 1,237 tonnes the month before.
Belgium followed with 1,387 tonnes, down from 1,552 tonnes in June.
France imported 1,162 tonnes of UK material, up from 640 tonnes in the month before.
Coming from nowhere was Greece with 1,026 tonnes, growing from just 247 tonnes in June.
