Please note this report just focuses on the waste polymers of ethylene commodity code (391510), as exports of other plastics are relatively small in volume

Exports of PE plastics fell in November to just 16,818 tonnes from 20,587 tonnes in October, according to the latest HMRC data.

Turkey was the prominent destination for UK material in November with the country importing 7,847 tonnes, a bit higher than October’s 7,635 tonnes.

The EU as a whole was the next largest buyer of PE plastics in November taking 6,297 tonnes, although this was down from October’s 8,191 tonnes.

Although this might be transitional tonnage, the Netherlands took most with 1,883 tonnes up from 1,533 tonnes in October.

Germany was next with 1,627 tonnes, up from 803 tonnes a month earlier.

Poland, which has bought more than 2,000 tonnes in the previous 11 months, imported just 118 tonnes of UK material in November.

After the EU, Hong Kong was the next largest importer with its 4,373 tonnes in November, down from 5,303 tonnes in October.

This was followed by Malaysia, which imported 2,928 tonnes of PE plastics, down from 3,749 tonnes the month before.
