Exports of scrap polymers from the UK globally decreased in July to 34,386 tonnes, down from June’s figure of 39,996 tonnes. This is also down on the July 2017 figure of 39,517 tonnes.

Similar to June, Malaysia remained the key buyer, purchasing 6,556 tonnes. However, this is a sharp decrease on June when it imported 9,972 tonnes from the UK.
China’s import of this material fell dramatically this month, buying only 972 tonnes, down on last month when it purchased 4,183 tonnes. This is also a big decline on July 2017 when 14,879 tonnes was imported.
Europe as a whole was the second-best buyer, importing 6,086 tonnes, up slightly from 6,007 tonnes in June. Poland remained the best destination importing 2759 tonnes.
Vietnam increased from 1,677 tonnes in June to 2,333 tonnes in July.
