December saw a decline in the total amount of recycled polymers of ethylene compared to November.
Globally, 27,701 tonnes was exported from the UK. This is down on last month when 30,753 tonnes was sent abroad, but up on December 2017 (25,159 tonnes).
The EU purchased 5,760 tonnes in December, although this is slightly down on November’s figure of 5,953 tonnes. Poland imported the highest amount in the EU (3,242 tonnes).
Vietnam’s importation of this material has fluctuated over the last few months leading up to December, and the pattern continued into this month. The UK sent zero amount to the country, following the trend of October and August. This is down on the minimal amount it bought in November (79 tonnes).
Turkey was the biggest buyer of this material, importing 7,588 tonnes, up from 5,965 tonnes.
Indonesia purchased 4,121 tonnes, while Thailand bought 2,361 tonnes, both increasing on the amount imported last month.
Malaysia slightly reduced the amount it bought from 2,534 tonnes to 2,140 tonnes. This is the smallest amount the UK exported to the country in 2018.
China’s imports fell from 1,106 tonnes to 1,061 tonnes.
