These are the latest HMRC export figures for September 2025 for key paper and cardboard grades. Only destinations of more than 1,000 tonnes per month are included.
OCC – Commodity code 470710
Exports of OCC to the majority of deep sea destinations in September saw a marginal decrease in tonnes departing UK shores.
A total of 212,178 tonnes were exported in September, down just a little from 216,938 tonnes in August.
While India again saw the largest volumes of materials received from the UK, figures to this destination continued in a downward trend compared to August – registering 66,667 tonnes in September, compared to 72,868 in August.
Far East destinations saw a decrease in tonnes received compared with August. Vietnam bucked the trend and registered an increase in materials received totalling 29,368 tonnes, compared with 26,901 in August.
European destinations registered a mixed picture. Turkey was the destination that saw the largest increase overall, registering 15,141 tonnes in September, significantly up from 3,296 in August.

Exports of mixed paper saw a further decrease in September – with a total of 80,654 tonnes departing from the UK, compared with 73,750 tonnes in August.
India continued to remain the dominant destination for mixed paper exports in September 2025, registering 44,929 tonnes in September, compared to 39,063 tonnes received from the UK in August.
In Europe, the Netherlands dominated but also saw a decrease in UK material imported in September, registering 8,904 tonnes, compared to 10,323 in August.
Otherwise in Europe, mixed paper exports registered a mixed picture overall.

Exports of this grade saw a decrease in tonnage leaving the UK during September compared to August.
A total of 12,243 tonnes left the UK in September, a very slight reduction of exported material, compared with 13,964 leaving the UK in August.
India again, continue to dominate, despite registering a decrease compared to August, with 6,841 tonnes received in September, compared to 9,540 tonnes in August.
Europe destinations registered a decrease, although it remained a stable picture overall.
