A new WEEE facility is to be opened in Dubai by UK-based Sims Recycling Solutions.
It will be the first WEEE treatment plant opened by Sims in the United Arab Emirates.
A four year research and business development project led up to the opening of the facility and was undertaken by local firm Akhdar FZCO. The management team of Akhdar FZCO has joined the new Sims Recycling Solutions FZE division.
Former Akhdar FZCO chief executive and now director of Sims Recycling Solutions FZE Philip Hughes said: “Over the past years, there has been a growing awareness in the Gulf Cooperation Council region of the need for better understanding of green solutions. For the general public this has manifested itself as a growing awareness of the need to recycle domestic waste and recycle end of life products, especially high value items such as IT and electronics.”
Sims Recycling Solutions is a division of global metal recycling business Sims Metal Management.
