UK bin manufacturer Taylor has launched a bin buy-back and rental scheme for local authorities.
Taylor will buy the waste container fleets back off councils and then rent them back to the same organisations, effectively relieving them of the need to set aside capital each year to buy new bins or refurbish fleets of existing containers.
The company will also take over the asset management of the waste container fleets, which eliminates maintenance and refurbishment costs for the bin user.
As a result, this ensures that bins are always up-to-date, and also improves the promotion of recycling.
Taylor UK sales manager Bob Harris said: “The buy-back scheme is a logical step for local authorities, who are under intense pressure to reduce costs in all areas of their operations. A number of councils already fund some of their key activities via rental. However, so far, few have failed to realise that the operation of a waste container fleet provides a similar cost-saving opportunity.
“The asset management component of our scheme enables us to work more closely with the local authority, or business, to deliver the most customer-specific, cost effective and safe waste and recycling solution – one that has high levels of public engagement leading to improved recycling rates across all property types.”
