France’s TotalEnergies has agreed a deal to supply US firm Berry with chemically recycled plastic from post-consumer waste.
The two global giants will work together from 2023 with TotalEnergies supplying feedstock including PE, PP and PS to Berry Global.
These recycled polymers will be produced at TotalEnergies’ chemical recycling facility in Grandpuits, France.
TotalEnergies senior Vice President polymers Valerie Goff said: “This collaboration with our longtime partner Berry Global demonstrates the willingness of the supply chain to make packaging more circular and sustainable, especially for demanding food contact applications where no other circularity solution exists.”
Berry will use the circular polymers in its plastic packaging products in Europe.
Its president of consumer packaging international Jean-Marc Gálvez said: “Through our collaborations with suppliers like TotalEnergies, we aim to provide customers with premier access to these in-demand sustainable resins like those we see with advanced recycling technologies serving the European region.
“Combined with Berry’s expertise in designing for circularity and breadth in manufacturing capabilities, this announcement demonstrates commitment to our long-term sustainability strategy.”
TotalEnergies announced plans to build the facility at Grandpuits with Plastic Energy last year.
