An EU official has said that the European Commission will enforce the circular economy package tougher than previous waste and recycling laws.
According to the EurActive website, Fulvia Raffaelli who is deputy head of unit at DG Grow in the European Commission told a plastics industry conference that the current Juncker Commission is “more committed” to enforcement than its predecessor under Jose Manuel Barroso.
Discussing the circular economy package, he said: “Enforcement is crucial. In DG Grow, and the whole Commission, we are all working very hard on different infringement cases.
“Pragmatism, enforcement and implementation are much more present than before in the discussion.”
