Valmet has said that it will install the new container board PM3 machine that will produce high-quality testliner and fluting grades from 100% recycled fibre.

It is scheduled to begin operation in the second quarter of 2024. Valmet said it will produce 10,110mm wide fabric with a basis weight range of 70-135g/m2. The design speed of the machine will be 1,700 m/min and the annual capacity will be 650,000 tonnes.

The OCC line will feature the latest technology to allow for extreme cleanliness and strength, according to Valmet.

Eren Paper/Modern Karton chair Hamdullah Eren said: “Shotton’s new container board machine will make our paper mill the largest and most technologically advanced paper mill in the UK. We chose a board making line with high performance, high speed, and higher production rates.”
