Yop to get recyclable bottles

Dairy-product maker Yoplait has launched recyclable packaging for its Yop brand.

The French firm, which has operations in the UK, said the clear PET bottles would be used for 500g and 825g formats of the drinkable yoghurt.

The new packaging features 35 per cent recycled material and comes with an attached cap that can be recycled.

A micro-perforated sleeve on the bottles contains instructions for the consumer to remove it before recycling the main container.

“Our ambition is for all of our packaging to be recyclable by the end of 2025,” said Yoplait UK general manager Antoine Hours.

“The move to PET and inclusion of recycled PET in our Yop bottles this year, and the move to PET for our Petits Filous, Wildlife, Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol pots last year, have seen us take a huge step towards this ambition.”

Yoplait, which is owned by Sodiaal, the largest cooperative of dairy farmers in France, launched in the UK in 1991.

Juice brand Capri-Sun last year revealed recyclable pouches.
