Asda has launched a coffee-pod recycling service at more than 600 stores across the UK.
Customers can order bags from specialist provider Podback online and take them filled with used aluminium and plastic coffee pods to the toYou parcel returns service in participating stores of the supermarket chain.
Beth Fowler, senior manager for healthy and sustainable choices at Asda, said the grocer was “always looking for ways to support customers to make sustainable choices when shopping with us”.
She added: “By offering the collection and recycling service with Asda toYou and Podback, we hope we can make recycling more convenient than ever when shopping with Asda.”
Podback executive director Rick Hindley described the partnership as “an exciting step forward” in the specialist’s mission to ensure every coffee pod is recycled.
“Our customers tell us that they want easy and convenient ways to recycle, and the nationwide network of Asda toYou drop-off points means they can now drop their pods off for recycling as part of their regular visit to the supermarket,” he added.
Morrisons last year revealed plans to install coffee-pod recycling points in more than 350 stores around the country.
Costa Coffee in September revealed trials of pod recycling in more than 100 outlets across the UK.
