Packaging producer Berry Global has launched a tamper-evident lid for edible oils, dressings and sauces with improved recyclability.
The Pical Pouring Closure features a tab that drops inside the packaging when the lid is opened for the first time.
This ensures all components enter the recycling stream, while a snap-on neck finish removes the need for an additional sleeve for tamper evidence.
Manufactured in HDPE, the lightweight closure is a one-piece design of mono-material construction, making it fully recyclable where collection facilities exist.
Berry said the flip-top design incorporated “an active hinge with a wide opening angle that allows easy one-handed opening and closing, with the secure closure mechanism providing an audible click to confirm it is fully closed”.
The Pical Pouring Closure is available in two neck sizes and a wide choice of colours.
Matthias Hammersen, vice-president of sales at Berry Global Consumer Packaging International Division, said: “With our Pical closure, we have addressed consumer demands for both convenience and sustainability.
“The modern design offers comfortable handling and optimal pouring performance, while its lightweight mono-material construction and retained tamper-evident tab ensure it is easy to recycle.”
