Plant mooted to recycle 25,000 tonnes of tricky plastics every year

Clean Planet Energy is to build a plant in Lincolnshire to process hard-to-recycle plastics.

The company announced its intention to deliver the 25,000-tonne per year facility at Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park.

This would process “almost any type of plastic” according to Clean Planet Energy.

Fast food containers, shopping bags and films would be among the items supplied to the so-called eco-plant.

Up to 70 jobs could be created at the facility, which would transform waste plastic into purified pyrolysis oil.

Clean Planet Energy director of expansion and development Tom Field said: “Our eco-plant in Sleaford would be a key milestone in our national rollout of facilities to tackle the plastic waste crisis at scale.”

North Kesteven District Council leader Richard Wright added: “If approved, the eco-plant would create jobs in a growing green industry as well an estimated 100 jobs during its two-year construction window.

“We will continue to provide appropriate advice and guidance to the Clean Planet Energy team as they look at next steps.”
