Reconomy has acquired US-based recycling services firm Vermilion Holdings.
The London-based circular economy specialist said the move would bring new customers and technology to its Comply Loop division.
Established in 1976, Vermilion manages track-and-trace of materials from collection locations to approved sites for reuse, recycling or disposal.
The Minnesota firm uses a proprietary technology platform and a patented reverse-logistics packaging and kiosk collection system.
Reconomy’s Comply Loop division already services more than 15,000 customers around the world in the fast-growing take-back solutions market.
The firm’s chief executive Guy Wakeley described the latest acquisition as a “strategic milestone” for its US growth plans.
Comply Loop divisional chief executive Patrick Wiedemann added: “The scale of environmental compliance is accelerating internationally, creating complex challenges for brands, so we must continually add to our services to help businesses navigate this complex, changing landscape.”
Vermilion chief executive Mike Pietrini said: “There are many opportunities to collaborate successfully with Reconomy’s Comply Loop as, together, we lead the way in environmental compliance management, take-back, collection and circularity solutions for end of life materials.”
