These are the latest HMRC export figures for April 2025 for key paper and cardboard grades. Only destinations of more than 1,000 tonnes per month are included.
OCC – Commodity code 470710
Exports of OCC to the majority of deep sea destinations in April continued to see a decrease in waste exports departing UK shores.
A total of 215,014 tonnes were exported in April, down from 231,215 tonnes in March.
Turkey took the top spot as leading destination for materials departing UK shores with 61,302 tonnes in April, which was significantly up on March when 48,634 tonnes were registered.
Destinations in the Far East all saw sharp drops in tonnage across the board.
In contrast, destinations across Europe remained steady overall, with most destinations registering increases.

Exports of mixed paper again saw a slight decrease in April – with a total of 76,206 tonnes departing from UK shores, compared with 81,301 tonnes in March.
India continued to remain the dominant destination for mixed paper exports in April 2025, despite registering a decrease in tonnage, with 34,433 tonnes received in April compared to 44,344 tonnes in March.
Exports to France bounced back, registering 6,947 tonnes in April compared to 3,450 tonnes the previous month.
Across Europe, mixed paper exports registered a relatively stable picture.

A total of 14,901 tonnes left the UK in April, an increase on exported material compared with 12,662 leaving the UK in March.
Europe destinations registered a stable picture overall.
