These are the latest HMRC export figures for February 2025 for key paper and cardboard grades. Only destinations of more than 1,000 tonnes per month are included.
OCC – Commodity code 470710
Exports of OCC to the majority of deep sea destinations in February continued to register a monthly increase in tonnage.
A total of 246,123 tonnes were exported in February, up from 235,176 tonnes in January.
Exports to Vietnam saw a significant increase from 47,864 in January to 64,538 for February 2025.
It was a mixed picture for other leading destinations. Some destinations saw an increase, however destinations such as Malaysia and Thailand saw a sizeable decrease compared to January.
Destinations across Europe remained steady overall.

Exports of mixed paper saw little fluctuation with a total of 80,377 tonnes departing from UK shores, compared with 81,482 tonnes in January.
India remained the dominant destination for mixed paper exports in February 2025, despite registering a decrease in tonnage, with 44,756 tonnes received in February compared to 49,091 tonnes in January.
Exports to the Netherlands continue to bounce back, registering 10,057 tonnes in February compared to 9,122 tonnes the previous month.
Across Europe, mixed paper exports registered a relatively stable picture.

Exports of this grade have continued to see steady increases in February compared to January, illustrating a higher volume compared with most months in 2024, with the exception of the Netherlands where are marginal decrease in tonnage was registered.
A total of 15,673 tonnes left the UK in February, which is a significant increase in the volume of exported material compared with 13,417 leaving the UK in January.
