The Restart Project has opened its second electronics repair hub in London.
The social enterprise launched the Hackney Fixing Factory this week, three years after starting out with a sister site in Camden.
Helping people repair broken electrical items, the scheme aims to reduce waste and promote a more sustainable economic model.
“Located in the heart of Hackney, we’re bringing accessible and visible fixing to another community,” said Restart.
“The Hackney Fixing Factory is a community repair hub helping people repair their broken electricals and learn new fixing skills, shifting us from our current take-make-waste linear system towards a repair economy fit for the future.”
Plans for the hub include workshops, volunteer training sessions and drop-in events.
The Restart Project and partners Possible are aiming to launch two more Fixing Factories in the capital this year.
“We’re looking at Haringey for one – if you have a suitable space for our fourth location, drop us a line,” they said.
