The company will be responsible for collecting dry mixed recyclables, general waste and a glass collection for the organisation which co-ordinates public transport in Merseyside.

B&M will also manage all hazardous wastes and will provide bulk skips at the Wallasey tunnel maintenance compound for metal, wood and inert wastes.

It will service the Merseytravel head office at Hatton Gardens, the Mersey Ferry terminals, Mersey tunnels, bus stations and maintenance depots. It will also provide recycling and waste services at the new Mann Island Merseytravel head office when it opens next year.

B&M commercial manager Kevin Wood said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to improve the efficiency and sustainability of Merseytravel’s waste management and recycling programme. We are delighted to be the preferred waste service provider for one of Merseyside’s most important organisations.”
