China increases tariffs on US paper exports to 30%

Tariffs of 30% will be placed on exports to China of some recovered paper grades from United States, the Chinese Government has announced.

Since August 2018, China has imposed a 25% tariff on the grades OCC (commodity code 47071000), news and pams (47073000) and the actually banned (47079000).

However, the Chinese Government has retaliated to increased US tariff on a wide variety of goods by increasing tariffs on more than 5,000 products worth $75 billion.

This means that exports of recovered paper from United States to China will be subject to an additional 5% from 15 December 2019, taking the tariff to a total of 30% of the value.
