Copper and aluminium ease off on Thursday

Both copper and aluminium dropped in value on the LME on Thursday after reaching recent highs on Wednesday.

Three-month copper was down to $9,130 (£5,636) from Wednesday’s $9,218 (£5,649).

Aluminium only fell a touch on Thursday to $2,436 (£1,504) from $2,441 (£1,496) the day before. Alloy was at $2,340 (£1,444) compared to Wednesday’s $2,320 (£1,422).

Lead was stable at $2,541 (£1,569) on Thursday from $2,545 (£1,560) a day earlier. Nickel dropped to $21,820 (£13,469) compared to Wednesday’s $22,070 (£13,525).

Tin was up $100 to $24,150 (£14,907) on Thursday after pricing at $24,050 (£14,738) the day before. Zinc was at $2,235 (£1,380) down from $2,285 (£1,400) on Wednesday.

Steel remained at $580 but exchange rates meant it was up to £358 in sterling on Thursday from £355 the day before.
