Dutch Prime Minister backs Netherlands becoming a leading player in the circular economy

An endorsement of the Netherlands becoming a leader in developing a circular economy has been given by Dutch Prime Minster Mark Rutte.

At a trade mission involving 145 participants from 20 countries as part of Amsterdam being voted European Capital of Innovation, delegates found out about the Netherlands Circular Hotspot in the capital.

The delegates, including Mark Rutte (pictured centre), were given a document containing the vision of how the Netherlands plans to become a leader in the circular economy.

Mark Rutte said: “We are a nation of little hierarchy, with highly educated people, many entrepreneurs and the highest waste collection rates in the world.

“If you put all this together, I think the Netherlands can play a leading role in sustainable urbanisation and the circular economy.”
