The three stage process used by Milton Keynes will treat household waste using mechanical treatment to sort recyclates, anaerobic digestion and then gasification using Energos.

This final stage in the process will convert non-recyclable waste into a syngas for the production of high temperature steam than can then be converted into electricity in a turbine.

The Energos facility will have a capacity of over 90,000 tonnes and generate a gross output of 7MW of electricity, which is enough to power 11,000 homes.
