First Mile makes two acquisitions to boost its recycling capacity

Business-focused recycler First Mile has acquired two companies to boost its capacity.

The London and Dublin based firm said it had purchased waste broker Greenzone Facilities Management and commercial refuse specialist Albion Waste.

First Mile said the acquisitions would “enhance our operational capacity across London and the UK”.

This would help it “deliver even greater value and service excellence to our customers” the company added.

Launched in 2004, First Mile serves more than 30,000 UK businesses and achieved turnover of £46m in 2023.

Newark-based Greenzone connects waste producers across several sectors with specialist suppliers.

Albion collects a range of materials from more than 1,000 businesses in the capital.

Joe Allen, chief commercial officer at First Mile, said: “We’re proud to welcome Greenzone and Albion Waste to the First Mile group. Both businesses share our unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service and sustainable solutions, and we’re excited about what we can achieve together.”
