Two directors and two employees at Nationwide Recycling have pleaded not guilty to allegations that they fraudulently issued packaging recovery notes (PRNs) for waste it had not received.
According to a report in the South Wales Evening Post, Andrew Thomas, Paul Thomas, Beverly Bradford and Terrence Ainge from glass reprocessor Nationwide Recycling Ltd, pleaded not guilty at Swansea Crown Court to 17 offences under the Fraud, Proceeds of Crime Act and under waste regulations.
It is alleged that the company fraudulently issued PRNs for waste it had not received between January 2009 and October 2010.
The case was adjourned until 4 May as the judge expressed concern that with Nationwide Recycling now in liquidation, the liquidator had said that they did not wish to be involved in the proceedings.
As a result, the prosecution will be writing to the liquidator to outline the judge’s concern.
Defence statements had also only been provided to the prosecution for Terrence Ainge and not the other defendants.
All four were granted bail with their passports retained by the court.
