Black Forest Distillers has created a largely recycled bottle for its flagship Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Sloe Gin.
The German drinks firm said the container, produced in conjunction with specialist supplier Estal, was 95 per cent post-consumer glass.
Labels for the bottle are made with crushed citrus paper, using fruit leftovers and recycled fibres among other materials, while its cork is naturally harvested and absorbs carbon dioxide.
Shrink wraps for the gin are to be made with a renewable plastic substitute created from fermented plant starch.
Gregory Chevillat, general manager at Black Forest Distillers, said sustainability was “a given” at Monkey 47.
“By choosing renewable materials that are responsibly sourced, we ensure that our packaging aligns with our values of protecting the planet,” he added.
“The evolution with this new bottle is part of a broader commitment to sustainability that goes beyond short-term trends, helping us contribute to a more sustainable future for generations to come.”
Monkey 47 is distilled from 47 regional botanicals, including lingonberries, and blended with local water.
