Thailand’s Indorama Ventures has announced it has agreed to purchase Polish PET plastic recycler Industrie Maurizio Peruzzo Polowat spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością (IMP Polowat).
IMP Polowat has two production sites in Bielsko-Biala and Leczyca that turns post-consumer PET into rPET flakes and pellets.
The combined capacity of the facilities is 27,000 tonnes per annum, consisting of 23,000 tonnes of rPET flakes and 4,000 tonnes of pellets.
Indorama Ventures hopes to secure most of its supply from local markets and sell rPET to companies seeking sustainable packaging solutions.
The company has ambitions to reach 750,000 tonnes of recycling capacity by 2025.
It is expected that the transaction will be completed in the third quarter of this year subject to regulatory approvals.
