Jayplas to build new plastic and glass bottle washing recycling plant

The UK’s largest plastic recycler Jayplas is to open a new plastic and glass bottle washing plant at its newly acquired facility in Loughborough.

As reported by SCM in May, J&A Young, which trades as Jayplas, bought a 69-acre site that previously belonged to drugs company AstraZeneca in the town.

The company now plans to fill it with a wash plant as well as a workshop for its 150 vehicle fleet. As a result of this, it will occupy 20 acres and so it is looking to attract other firms to also use the space.

J&A property development manager Jeremy Hoare told the Leicester Mercury newspaper that a seven-figure sum would be spent on modifying the current buildings and site that includes 1.3 million sq ft of office and laboratory space.

He added: “It will be the first move by Jayplas onto the site. Fifty people will be employed at the site, and hopefully more, from March/April time.”

The company currently has sites in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Birmingham, Grimsby and its head office in Corby, Nottinghamshire.
