The Plastics Packaging Circular Economy Group has been launched by trade association Plastics Europe.
With the aim of working to maximise the potential of plastics in delivering resource efficiency, the group will work with the packaging supply chain to develop more circular economy solutions.
Speaking at the launch of the group at the K Plastics Exhibition in Germany, Plastics Europe executive director Karl-H Foerster said: “Lifecycle thinking is at the heart of our actions. The circular economy proposals should also aim to bring environmental benefits over the full lifecycle.
“It is only through the lens of resource efficiency that new approaches and holistic packaging solutions will be developed.”
The first move of the group will be a collaboration with the European Plastics Converters and Plastics Recyclers Association that will be announced soon.
