The Design for Recycling Guidelines use a traffic light system – where green indicates a preferred feature, red an undesirable element and amber something that’s inbetween.

RecyClass carried out a comprehemnsive testing programme spanning 18 campaigns before releasing the latest documents.

These give highly detailed information on everything from labels and additives across a number of specific packaging products such as PET bottles and HDPE containers.

RecyClass also updated its Recyclability Evaluation protocols in a bid to improve the processing conditions and characterisation of materials.

Its PET Thermoform Taskforce was recently launched and is expected to inform further guidelines and future testing protocols for PET trays.

“Thanks to continuous and dedicated collaboration with scientific laboratories, RecyClass continues providing science-based and standardized tools to guide the value chain in the transition towards plastics circularity,” said chairman Paolo Glerean.
