These are the latest HMRC export figures for August 2025 for key paper and cardboard grades. Only destinations of more than 1,000 tonnes per month are included.
OCC – Commodity code 470710
Exports of OCC to the majority of deep sea destinations in August saw figures decrease in August, back to levels seen in recent months.
A total of 216,938 tonnes were exported in August, down just a little from 237,100 tonnes in July.
While India again saw the largest volumes of materials received from the UK, figures to this destination dropped month on month compared to July – registering 72,868 tonnes in August, compared to 84,563 in July.
Far East destinations saw a decrease in tonnes received compared with July. Singapore bucked the trend and registered an almost five-fold increase of 1,743 tonnes of materials received, compared with 368 in July.
European destinations also saw a decrease overall, with the exception of France where figures remained stable, with 4,090 tonnes received, compared to 3,753 tonnes in July.

Mixed paper – Commodity code 470790
Exports of mixed paper saw a further decrease in August – with a total of 73,750 tonnes departing from the UK, compared with 83,592 tonnes in July.
India continued to remain the dominant destination for mixed paper exports in August 2025, although this month saw a decrease in tonnage, with 39,063 tonnes received from the UK in August compared to 48,797 tonnes in July.
In Europe, the Netherlands dominated but also saw a decrease in UK material imported in August, registering 10,323 tonnes, compared to 11,869 in July.
Otherwise in Europe, mixed paper exports registered a mixed picture overall.

Exports of this grade saw an increase in tonnage leaving the UK during August compared to July.
A total of 13,964 tonnes left the UK in August, a very slight reduction of exported material, compared with 12,520 leaving the UK in July.
India again, continue to dominate, and registered a significant increase compared to July, with 8,959 tonnes received in August, compared to 5,621 tonnes in July.
Europe destinations registered a decrease, although it remained a stable picture overall.
