These are the latest HMRC export figures for June 2025 for key paper and cardboard grades. Only destinations of more than 1,000 tonnes per month are included.

Exports of OCC to the majority of deep sea destinations in June continued to see a decrease in waste exports departing the UK. 

A total of 203,679 tonnes were exported in June, down just a little from 204,709 tonnes in May. 

India saw the largest volumes of materials received from the UK, registering 59,609 tonnes in June, compared to 46,694 in May.

The market was a mixed picture, with some destinations registering significant increases month on month, whereas other destinations saw a sharp decrease in materials received.

Mixed paper – Commodity code 470790

Exports of mixed paper saw a slight decrease in June – with a total of 85,711 tonnes departing from UK shores, compared with 89,715 tonnes in May.

India continued to remain the dominant destination for mixed paper exports in June 2025, and this month saw an increase in tonnage, with 43,007 tonnes received from the UK in June compared to 36,941 tonnes in May. 

In Europe, the Netherlands dominated and saw a decrease in UK material imported in June, registering 14,026 tonnes, compared to 18,988 in May.

Otherwise in Europe, mixed paper exports registered a relatively stable picture.

Exports of this grade saw a dramatic decrease in tonnage leaving the UK during June compared to May.

A total of 7,101 tonnes left the UK in May, an increase on exported material compared with 15,044 leaving the UK in April, almost half of the volume of material received the previous month.

India continue to dominate, although a marginal decrease was registered, compared to May.

Europe destinations registered a stable picture overall with little notable changes.
