Scrap metal recycler Eric France goes into liquidation

JKL (Wakefield) Ltd, which traded as Eric France Metal Recycling has gone out of business with the loss of 18 jobs and debts of £22 million.

The company, which was based in Ossett, West Yorkshire, held a meeting of creditors on 26 February at which liquidators KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers were appointed.

In a statement, the liquidators said: “It is understood that, according to the directors’ statement of affairs, £21 million of the company’s total debts of £22 million relate to unpaid VAT.”

Another casualty of the liquidation was the main sponsor of Wakefield Wildcats rugby league team paying a six-figure sum. As a result, they are now on the lookout for a replacement.
