William Tracey Group non-hazardous division managing director Robin Stevenson said: “This acquisition clearly positions William Tracey Group as market leaders in the Scottish recycling and resource management market. The integration of Oran’s customers will significantly increase the scale of our collections operation but just as importantly it will also increase material inputs into our materials recycling facilities.

“We look forward to welcoming Oran’s customers into the group and will now set to work ensuring that they are compliant with Scotland’s new waste regulations by 1 January 2014 while also benefitting from increased recycling and reduced waste to landfill.”

Oran Environmental Solutions chief executive Tom Gleeson said: “I am delighted to have concluded this sale and would like to take this opportunity to thank all our dry waste compaction employees and customers for their support over many years and who will now transfer over to the William Tracey Group. I would also like to assure customers in other divisions of Oran ES that their service will be unaffected and it will be business as usual.”

By 1 January 2014, Scottish businesses must separate out their food, glass and other recyclable waste from general waste as part of moves for Scotland to achieve a 70 per cent recycling target by 2025.
