Tech retailer Currys has doubled the reward it offers for handing in old electricals, for a limited period.
The firm said any adults dropping off waste electronics to a UK store by 8 July would receive a voucher worth at least £10 towards a minimum £50 spend in store.
Currys’ Cash for Trash initiative usually offers a minimum of £5 off a £25 spend, while the retailer also runs trade-in deals.
Almost any device with a plug or battery can be recycled through the scheme, but vapes are excluded along with sensitive or unhygienic items.
Electronics collected through the scheme are repaired, refurbished, harvested for parts or recycled.
Currys claims its repair and recycling facility in Nottinghamshire is one of Europe’s largest tech repair centres.
Paula Coughlan, chief sustainability officer at the firm, said she was “thrilled” to be doubling the reward available through Cash for Trash.
“This limited-time promotion not only incentivises customers to recycle their old tech but helps tackle the growing e-waste crisis in the UK,” she added.
